All of us loved Badhaai Ho so much that we can watch it again and again. The film was also awarded the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment award at the 66th National Awards. The performances from Neena Gupta, Surekha Sikri and Gajraj Rao are still fresh in our minds. In fact, Sikri also won the National Award for Best Supporting Actor. Now, Mumbai Mirror has reported that the second instalment of the social-comedy is already in the works. It says it will be tentatively titled Badhaai Ho 2 and will be a wholesome entertainer. A source told the tabloid, “The script has been locked, and the makers are on the lookout to finalise on the cast.”
In Badhaai Ho, Ayushmann Khurrana plays an IT engineer and Delhi resident who gets a shock when he discovers that his 50-something mom is pregnant with her third child. The trailer got a great response and the hit was a critical and commercial success. The source further informed the paper, “The second instalment will revolve around the shenanigans of a joint family and two young couples. It will take off next year.” Sanya Malhotra played Renee his girlfriend who is crucial to the story. Badhaai Ho is being remade in all the South Indian languages.
Ayushmann Khurrana is on a high with AndhaDhun and Badhaai Ho doing brilliantly at the National Awards. He wrote a poem to share his feelings. Celebs congratulated him on his success.
Badhaai Ho also gave a new lease of life to Neena Gupta’s career. Post the win, she said, “Yes I am very happy, I had forgotten the National Film Awards weren’t held till now. They are late this time because of elections. Suddenly I came to know about them from Twitter and I couldn’t believe it we got two awards…three awards in a way. I will say three because Ayushmann bhi hume apna hi lagta hai, who got the Best Actor for Andhadhun. I am so happy.” Stay tuned for more updates!
