After Chhichhore that releases on August 30, 2019, Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi’s Dil Bechara will hit the cinema halls on November 29, 2019. The film is the Hindi remake of The Fault In Our Stars. The shoot of the film was wrapped up in Paris, in February. The film, which was originally titled as Kizie Aur Manny also got renamed as Dil Bechara. The title is keeping with a song in the film. Moreover, the makers felt it had a more quirky and youthful vibe to it. Dil Bechara is currently in the post-production stage. Well, the team is celebrating the fifth anniversary of the release of The Fault In Our Stars, which released in India on July 4, 2014.

The film is also the debut of casting director, Mukesh Chhabra. He saw the original film three years ago and it left a huge emotional impact. However, he says it is serendipity that he became the director of the Hindi remake. Mukesh Chhabra told Mumbai Mirror, “But back then, I didn’t know it would end up becoming my first film as a director. When it happened, we made some changes to the story keeping Indian sensibilities in mind. I love films like Masoom and Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, and when a film in a similar space comes along, it feels amazing.”

The film stars Sushant Singh Rajput, whom Mukesh Chhabra loves as a younger brother. It seems Sushant did not watch The Fault In Our Stars in entirety as he did not want to get too influenced by Ansel Elgort’s interpretation of Augustus. It seems SSR stopped watching it mid-way as he wanted to give the character his own spin. Chhabra further told the paper, “I like it that way as I didn’t want my actors to get influenced by the original performances (Ansel Elgort and Shailene Woodley). Our setting is different, and we have also referenced the book in bits.” In the film, Sushant’s bike plays a huge role as it has a side-car in which he gives Kizie (Sanjana Sanghi) rides around the town. The film has been shot in Jamshedpur.

It seems the film has been tweaked a bit. Talking about similarities between the original and remake, Chabbra said, “It is not the same scene but the part where Sushant’s character realises for the first time that he is dying really hit me. I have shot it in an interesting way.” Stay tuned for more updates!
