Think horror. Think Vikram Bhatt. He is known to push the boundaries of this genre with his mind-altering narratives. His tryst with the genre is such that he has compared making paranormal movies to enjoying a spiritual experience. He has received accolades for his movies like ‘Raaz’, ‘Ghulam’ etc.
And now, after fronting many horror films, over the years, he is all set to showcase the horrors of real-life on the big screen with his next directorial venture, ‘Hacked.’
However, taking a break from paranormal subjects, he has decided to illustrate how modern-day technology can go awry, and what are its consequences this time around. The story of ‘Hacked’ revolves around a young independent woman who is being stalked by a 19-year-old boy. He also hacks into her personal systems. Rohan Shah is essaying the role of the stalker. The movie also features Sid Makkar and Mohit Malhotra.
The movie brings out the vulnerability of people in times of a privacy breach, especially now when most people live out their lives in the digital world, and end up revealing many personal details such as where are they holidaying to what are they eating.
What germinated the idea for this film was Vikram’s real-life experiences. The genesis for this movie also included the stories of people whose personal and professional lives had been compromised because of the wrong use of social media and technology. The filmmaker says, “I have been making films based on horror and spirits, but this time, I chose to give the audience a reality check by highlighting the horror of getting hacked. It’s happening to everyone, but people don’t know about it yet. We are constantly being watched, it just takes one hacker and a few minutes to ruin your life. Hacked is about real horror, not a fairytale.”
The film, which is slated to release next month also marks the Bollywood debut of popular television actress Hina Khan. The first look of the movie shows her in a bold avatar as opposed to her traditional image in the television industry. Eyes are on her as she brings the best of her acting chops to this relevant movie.
The trailer of the film releases today. Presented by Zee Studios, Hacked, produced by Krishna Bhatt, Amar Thakkar, Jatin Sethi, releases on February 7.
