Vivek Oberoi has been brought on board to play Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the latter’s biopic, titled PM Narendra Modi. The film, to be helmed by Mary Kom director Omung Kumar, will go on floors in mid-January.

Earlier, Paresh Rawal was slated to play Modi, but the actor reportedly exited the project last year.

According to a Bollywood Hungama report, the film is going to be shot extensively in several parts of the country, from Modi’s hometown in Gujarat to Delhi, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. The film is being financed by Sandip Ssingh, who has been associated with movies such as Bhoomi and Sarbjit.

Oberoi, who made Hindi film debut with Ram Gopal Varma’s superhit Company in 2002, will be next seen in Ram Charan-starrer Telugu action entertainer Vinaya Vidheya Rama. The actor also plays an integral part in Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Malayalam political thriller Lucifer, alongside Mohanlal, Indrajith Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas and Manju Warrier.
